About The Author

What has shaped my writing in terms of its content and direction?

More strange, perhaps, is the fact it has taken two distinct routes: fiction and management.

Much of my fiction has been humour, thanks to my innate nature and also my enjoyment of making people laugh. What makes it even more attractive for me is that laughter is therapeutic and I know for a fact that it can at times almost magically make people forget their sorrows at least for as long as the humour holds their attention.

Having a fairly creative mind, I have also written/drafted, in a more "serious" vein, both long and short stories and articles.

Another contributing factor has been my good fortune in living and/or working in diverse countries, the majority of this being in India and Sri Lanka. Because I was in India well before the transition to the economy that it is now, I saw much more of the "old" and fascinating aspects of that huge land.

Interestingly, working in India and Sri Lanka was the real start of my management career. Being responsible for the results of fairly large numbers of people taught me a great deal. The fact that the company also went through the difficult times of great change added even more to my practical experiences.

This built up a passion in me: people, productivity, and performance. When I quit the world of banking, it was to a consultancy that enabled me to specialise in these subjects.

I hope you enjoy my books as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

Best wishes,

Nigel
